In 1960 Air France came up with its own plastic beach bag, combining innovation and tradition by adding an elegant rope-style strap.
The beach bag was designed for carrying accessories when designers realized that traditional handbags, often made from fragile and valuable materials, were not suitable for wet towels and grains of sand. So they came up with bags made from straw or fabric, which were easy to maintain.
The world of Air France has inspired generations of talented designers – poster designers, illustrators, graphic designers, film-makers, photographers, choreographers, and more –
who have all helped to create its marketing image.
